Let It Snow!
The last few weeks here in Michigan we have had what can best be described as a wintry mix. A little bit of snow, a little bit of freezing rain, and wildly swinging temperatures. This is pretty standard for January, well, as standard as Michigan gets anyway. Of course, people are complaining. Complaining about snow and weather in Michigan. The state is known for its four seasons. If you live here, you know the weather is going to change. You know it is going to snow. For me, that is part of the reason I love Michigan and why I choose to live here. If someone hates the snow and doesn't like the weather, I don't understand why they have chosen to live here.
Some people have made the choice because there are things that would bother them more if they moved away. I can understand that kind of choice, but if that is the kind of choice they have made then they need to rejoice in what they have gained by being here and not dwelling on the negative weather.
Others I think just like to complain. Too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter, and they just wish Mother Nature would make up her mind in the spring and fall. I am not sure there is much that is going to help these folks until they learn to completely move away from their negativity. Often they make it almost a game to find something to complain about. Nothing is quite good enough. I feel for these individuals. They have no doubt been raised in a negative environment and are just reflecting what they have been taught and default to the poor me attitude. It can be overcome, but it is a long road for these individuals to start looking at the positive around them.
Why all this talk about the weather? Because your feeling about your physical environment and what you do about it is also an indicator of where you are at from a psychological standpoint. If you are unwilling to make a physical move to get away from something that bothers you, like the weather, then there is a good chance that you will maintain your current mental state as well. If you don't feel positive about where you are at in life then you need to understand that you can choose. You can decide to do something else. It may not be easy, but if you will turn your mind to the positive and focus on goals you have clearly defined, you will be able to move beyond your current situation.
It might be the weather, it might be a job, it might even be family. Whatever the situation that you are unhappy about, make the choice to move beyond it and move toward those positive things that will enhance your life.
For me, I love it here. Let it Snow!
